US Postal Service Stamp Out Hunger drive, sponsored by the N.A.L.C., May 11, 2013

At 4:00pm Boca Helping Hands was bustling along with over 65 volunteers who were gearing up for the first truck of canned goods to come from the Stamp Out Hunger Drive sponsored through the US Post Office. Boca Helping Hands was thrilled to receive the donations from the Tamiami Post Office in addition to the Boca Rio Station. With BHH distributing over 5,000 bags of groceries each month we are very thankful for this opportunity to take part in the Stamp Out Hunger Drive. We want to thank our amazing community partners: Junior League of Boca Raton, Bloomingdales of Boca, Leadership Boca Class of 2013, Rotary Club of Boca Raton, Rotaract of Palm Beach State College and Boca Raton Regional Hospital. Thank you also to the Black Men’s Progressive Association from Florida Atlantic University for going down to the Tamiami location and to our Boy Scouts from Palm Beach Garden who handled the Boca Rio Station. A big thank you to BHH staff and many of our regular volunteers: Joan Sappenfield, LouAnn Such & Leonard Wierzbowski.

Here are the totals:

Boca Rio Post Office: 9,282 Pounds of Canned Goods

Tamiami Post Office: 2,151 Pounds of Canned Goods
Grand Total for 2013 Stamp Out Hunger received by Boca Helping Hands: 11,433 Pounds of Canned Goods!

 GREAT JOB EVERYONE!!!
