What a perfect morning to celebrate Earth Day! Boca Helping Hands, represented by Karen Swedenborg, Development Manager, Helped in the groundbreaking ceremony of the Boca Raton Community Garden. Boca Helping Hands will receive 10% of the crops grown in this garden starting in October of this year. This garden is located off of 2nd Avenue between Glades and Palmetto. Each of the participants was given red and black shovels (Junior League colors) for the ceremony. The Mayor, Susan Whelchel spoke and also representing the City was the Deputy Mayor Susan Haynie and City Council Members Anthony Majhess and Constance Scott. Some of the Sponsors of the garden include the City of Boca Raton, Junior League of Boca Raton, Whole foods, Landscape Architect, Wayne Tonning. 


Children's Museum provided entertainment for the children. Some of the students from the Montessori School sang a special song and spoke about what the garden means to them. They are 6-12 years old.
