Trina Chin Cheong

Director of Workforce Development

Trina Chin Cheong immigrated to the United States in 2010, following a 15-year career in finance and investment banking across Trinidad and the United Kingdom, including Royal Bank of Trinidad and Tobago and Lloyds TSB, experience that informs her disciplined, outcomes-driven approach to workforce development strategy and partnerships. Following her banking career, she spent ten years in Scotland managing an accounts office and overseeing accounting and payroll operations for five businesses. After relocating to Florida, she transitioned to the nonprofit sector, bringing corporate rigor to mission-driven leadership. She joined Boca Helping Hands (BHH) in 2014, drawn to the organization’s commitment to serving individuals and families in need.

As Director of Workforce Development, Trina provides strategic oversight of initiatives that equip participants for sustainable employment and long-term economic mobility. She leads a portfolio of nine workforce development programs, setting strategy, strengthening delivery, and driving outcomes across the full participant lifecycle, from intake and assessment through skills development, job readiness, mentoring, and job placement support. She drives data-informed program design and performance reporting to strengthen accountability, outcomes, and organizational impact. Her leadership emphasizes continuous improvement and measurable results that advance both participant success and organizational performance.

Previously, Trina served as Director of Programs at BHH, where she launched Health and Wellness and Professional Development initiatives and contributed to the implementation of Boca Helping Hands’ 2020 Strategic Plan. She also partnered closely with Genesis Community Health on community outreach efforts and serves on their Board of Directors.
