Charity Navigator Honors Boca Helping Hands with

4 Star Rating for 7th Consecutive year!

      Over the past few months, you have read about the incredible growth in the numbers of people served by the incredible volunteers and staff at Boca Helping Hands. Today, we serve over 4,600 hot meals each month, and distribute well over 4,000 pantry bags of perishable and non-perishable groceries to local families. Over 1000 students in local elementary schools receive backpacks on Friday with food for the weekend. And our Resource Center and Job Mentor Program are serving more people than ever before.

      As we have increased our programs and our fundraising, we have also maintained our efficiency and productivity. Each year, Charity Navigator “rates” nonprofit agencies throughout the United States. Each nonprofit agency is rated on efficiency, proper use of finances, accountability and transparency. On October 1st, Boca Helping Hands received news that Charity Navigator has bestowed its highest rating, a Four Star Rating, on Boca Helping Hands for the 7th consecutive year! The letter from Charity Navigator read in part:

Based on the most recent information available, we have issued a new rating for your organization. We are proud to announce Boca Helping Hands has earned our seventh consecutive 4-star rating. Receiving four out of a possible four stars indicates that your organization adheres to good governance and other best practices that minimize the chance of unethical activities and consistently executes its mission in a fiscally responsible way. Only 2% of the charities we rate have received at least 7 consecutive 4-star evaluations, indicating that Boca Helping Hands outperforms most other charities in America. This “exceptional” designation from Charity Navigator differentiates Boca Helping Hands from its peers and demonstrates to the public it is worthy of their trust.

      The detailed report from Charity Navigator was even more revealing. While we always knew that we made proper and prudent use of our contributions, in 2011, that efficiency increased even more. Today, nearly $0.89 of every dollar donated to Boca Helping Hands goes directly to program. Few charities can claim such an efficient use of contributions. As stated in the letter of announcement from Charity Navigator, only 2% of charities in the United States have ever earned their highest distinction for seven consecutive years. This is the type of information you want to share with your friends, neighbors and colleagues. Let them know that when they support Boca Helping Hands, their contributions will be properly and efficiently used to serve those in need. State it clearly: $0.89 of every dollar contributed goes directly to programs and service! As we approach yet another End of the Year Matching Campaign (November 1st through December 31st), let your circle of influence know that Boca Helping Hands is setting the standard in the nonprofit world.
