After completing his first year of the Electrical Apprenticeship Program offered through Boca Helping Hands’ partnership with Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) Institute, Qwintarius has found success in the industry working with Pomeroy Electric.

Qwintarius J. accomplished a lot in 2023, including finishing an electrical job on a new construction site, completing the second year of his apprenticeship with Pomeroy Electric, and welcoming a baby boy to the world, to name a few.

After completing his 9-month training with ABC in 2022, Qwintarius was able to begin accepting projects as an apprentice with Pomeroy Electric. At first, he was picking up projects that were in progress and jumping in when needed, gaining valuable experience alongside other electricians.

Then in early 2023, Qwintarius began work on a project that confirmed his faith in selecting this new career path. “We took a project working on a new construction site off of Okeechobee Blvd. that turned out to be a church,” he said. Being a Christian himself, Qwintarius took this as a sign that he was in the right place. “I learned so much from that job,” he said. “I was able to work on everything from the ground up, including fire alarms, underground wiring, and lighting.”

Qwintarius has taken more jobs where he can see projects through from beginning to end, including his most recent project at Palm Beach State College working on the electrical for a new medical and dental training facility. “I’ve grown so much in the past year,” he said. “I’m so thankful for Boca Helping Hands putting me in this position.”

Along with his significant growth in the past year, Qwintarius has been fortunate to take part in BHH’s newly established long-term mentorship program for apprentice students under longtime BHH volunteer (as well as the founder, chief executive officer, and chief investment officer at Waypoint Residential) Scott Lawlor. With Scott’s vast knowledge of asset management and market research, he has armed Qwintarius with insight on how, when, and where to begin his next endeavor in property management.

For now, Qwinatrius and his girlfriend are busy loving and raising their one-month-old baby, Quincy. “I am very happy and very blessed,” he said. The team at BHH couldn’t be happier to see his success and wishes him and his family the very best this holiday season.
