Innovative Corporate Partners
We've been fortunate to receive strong support from local corporations and businesses, many of which utilize their own unique assets on our behalf. Long time partners like the Addison, the Boca Resort and Club, and Town Center at Boca Raton continue to share their kitchen prowess and renowned hospitality to feed and host our clients at special events, while others—like GED Lawyers, The Opportunistic Trader, and MobileHelp—are thinking outside the box to put their own spin on food drives and fundraisers. We continue to be blown away by the creative ways that our partners come up with to collaborate with BHH, engage with the public, and benefit our community together.
A FUN-FILLED FALL FOOD DRIVE
When GED Lawyers learned about our annual Thanksgiving Box Brigade drive, they wanted to support the event and hoped to volunteer handing out meals. However, when they discovered that most volunteer slots had already been filled weeks in advance, they decided to host their own food drive to help our clients—which soon transformed into a fun-filled community event. Their first annual "Thanksgiving Food Drive" included a BBQ buffet, a DJ, face painting, raffles, and pony rides, with free admission to anyone bringing a food donation for BHH. Not only was GED Lawyers able to donate 1,000+ pounds of food thanks to this event, but their raffles and attendee support resulted in a generous monetary contribution as well.
A LIVE-TRADING FUNDRAISER
In December, veteran financial trader Larry Benedict utilized his expertise to raise the largest ever annual-match contribution in BHH's history. Larry participated in a live online Trade-a-Thon, where he traded options to demonstrate how much revenue could be generated using his decades-honed techniques. In just a few hours, Larry was able to turn $25,000 of seed funding into over $100,000—all of which he then donated to Boca Helping Hands! In addition, the online event generated subscriptions to Larry's new financial advice newsletter, The Opportunistic Trader, with 1% of those sales also being donated to BHH.
BHH'S FIRST 5K
Medical alert system company MobileHelp began supporting BHH four years ago by hosting food drives and making small contributions. This year, their employees brainstormed a fundraiser that would be fun for the community and bring attention to our organization's mission. They came up with the "Bridging the Distance 5k," thus named because BHH helps people cross the bridge from basic need to self-sufficiency. Scheduled for March 14, this certified 5K run—which starts and ends on the beautiful Boca Raton Innovation Campus where MobileHelp is headquartered—will expose new audiences to BHH's mission and services, accommodating both amateur and professional runners. MobileHelp is reaching out to local companies to take part in the race and to become event sponsors, with all proceeds benefitting BHH and our programs. If you'd like to participate, there's still time to register!
