Lourdes came to Florida as a teenager from El Salvador by way of New Jersey when her family relocated. A true Floridian since then, Lourdes felt compelled to volunteer with an organization that truly gave back to the community she grew up in. At Boca Helping Hands she felt connected to the families and individuals we serve, and soon after began volunteering in our Resource Center. Her commitment to our mission strengthened even more when after only 6 months of volunteering, she was approached with an opportunity to join BHH as a full-time staff member overseeing the Front Desk. After flourishing in this role for over 2 years, Lourdes departed from BHH to pursue both personally and professional growth at Florida Atlantic University (FAU). While employed there, she also began enrolling in courses in hospitality – an industry that, at its core, is one of people helping people. Those courses, plus 2 years of experiences at FAU, made her even more prepared as she enthusiastically returned to BHH as Food Center Manager.
Lourdes spends her days shoulder to shoulder with our volunteers and the families we serves. She uses her experience both as a past volunteer herself and the education she’s obtain to guide her each day – at her core always staying focused on her mission to help others.
Mother of 3 and grandmother of 2, Lourdes spends her free time focused on her family. When she’s not spending quality time with them, she can be found reading at the beach, going out with friends and planning her next travel adventure.
