Have a Ball at Boca Helping Hands 9th Annual Bowling for Bread Event and Food Drive. Fun for All!

Join us and Have a Ball at our 9th Annual Bowling for Bread Event on Sunday, August 30, 2015 from 2:00pm to 5:00pm at Strikes @ Boca. If you have never been to this event this is the year to come! The bowing alley will be filled with children from local non-profits and there will be a friendly competition where the best bowlers are recognized with trophies. We are encouraging bowlers, friends and corporations to bring food to our Bowling for Bread Food Drive. Think about having your own food drive and bring the items to our Bowling for Bread Event! There will be food donated from many local restaurants such as Lucille's Bad to the Bone pulled pork sandwiches, Many pizza companies such as Augy's, Papa Johns, Grande Pizza Co., and Tomasso's Pizza & Subs, Cannoli Kitchen, donate dozens of pizza. Don't forget the delicious chicken wings from Bru's Room, Miller's Ale House, Chips and Salsa from Uncle Julio's and Rocco's Tacos, and Subway.

Local Soccer Fans Unite to Give Hunger the Boot!

On August 8th, as Barclay’s Premier League kicks off another season of world class “football”, local fans of English soccer clubs will team up with The Lion and Eagle Pub to support the work of Boca Helping Hands. As the main gathering place for football fans (“soccer” for us Americans) on match day, The Lion and Eagle Pub will encourage patrons to bring canned food items which will be donated to Boca Helping Hands. BHH now distributes over 6,000 bags of groceries each month to local families

Walmart grants BHH $30,000 for BHH Backpacks Program

Over 58% of American school children receive their primary meal each day at school, through the free and reduced lunch program. The Wal-Mart Foundation has made a generous grant of $30,000 to Boca Helping Hands to ensure that these children have adequate food on the weekends.

Dealers wore green eye shades, but no real money changed hands at Boca Helping Hands' ninth annual Monopoly Event and Casino Night. As the first Monopoly hall-of-famer and a two-time national champion, board president Gary Peters started this event as a fundraiser. Later, he brought in faux blackjack and roulette tables to give the patrons who weren't playing the board game "something else fun to do," he said at Via Mizner Country Club on April 11.

Boca Helping Hands held its 9th Annual MONOPOLY Event & Casino Night on April 11, 2015 at the beautiful Via Mizner Golf and Country Club. (viamiznergcc.com). The guests arrived and had their photo taken with Mr. MONOPOLY himself. They enjoyed a cocktail hour before the games began. There were two fast paced tournament style Monopoly games with the first game having 40 players. After the top five players joined in for the final game, the Boca Helping Hands MONOPOLY Winner was announced, and for the second year in a row, Alain Troadec won the title.

Boca Helping Hands in Boca Raton Receives Basic Human Services Grant from Bank of America Charitable Foundation Boca Helping Hands today announced that it has been named a recipient of the Bank of America Charitable Foundation’s 2014 Basic Human Services Grant. The grant is part of a $461,500 collective investment the bank is making in South Florida to address issues related to basic human services. The grants will help individuals and families address financial stability issues facing low-income communities, provide emergency shelter and supportive short-term housing, as well as provide access to benefits and resources including food pantries, shelters and financial coaching.

Boca Helping Hands has been given a matching challenge from an Anonymous Donor and Mr. Arthur J. Remillard. Your donation from November 1 through December 31, has been matched by our Anonymous Donor, up to $175,000.00. Mr. Arthur J. Remillard, Jr. also committed an additional $50,000 to the matching fund, thus raising the total eligible to be matched to $225,000! Your donation covers the general operating expenses of Boca Helping Hands and is tax deductable.
