Partnership Milestone in Fight Against Dependence

BOCA RATON, Fla.—December 17, 2015—Boca Helping Hands (“BHH”) today announced that The Sun Capital Partners Foundation (“The Foundation”) will continue its efforts to help the organization meet increased demand for its various assistance programs, including three job training programs that help individuals find employment, thereby breaking the cycle of dependence. This year’s $125,000 grant raises The Foundation’s lifetime support of BHH to $500,000.

“The Sun Capital Partners Foundation is setting the standard for good corporate responsibility in the 21st century,” said BHH Executive Director, James S. Gavrilos.  “We appreciate their investment in the people we serve, which is making an impact in the local community. Many companies talk about corporate responsibility, but Sun Capital Partners lives it. To achieve this level of giving is simply incredible.”

Boca Helping Hands marked this important partnership milestone yesterday with a reception at their headquarters for Sun Capital Partners representatives featuring graduates of Boca Helping Hands’ job training program. Graduates shared their experiences describing how the job training programs enabled them to re-enter the workforce and attain self sufficiency.

”At Sun Capital, we strongly believe that the most important investment is one that can help someone reach their true potential,” said Rodger Krouse, Co-CEO of Sun Capital. “That’s why we’ve been proud that our Foundation supports Boca Helping Hands’ efforts to expand its various program offerings, including the creation of several new job training programs. It is clear these programs are making a real difference in the lives of those who need it most, and we applaud their continued work.”

The Sun Capital Partners Foundation, Inc. was established in 2007 to unite the Sun Capital family – Sun Capital's employees, portfolio companies and business partners – in a purposeful philanthropic effort.  Sun Capital is a global private equity firm focused on identifying companies’ untapped potential and leveraging its deep operational and financial resources to transform results that has invested in more than 320 companies worldwide since its inception.

About Boca Helping Hands

Boca Helping Hands was founded in 1998 by a group of local volunteers in response to the growing challenge of hunger and poverty in our community.  Seven meals are served weekly and over 66,000 bags of groceries are distributed annually to local families living below the poverty level.  BHH provides limited financial assistance to local families and also offers several job training programs to help its clients find gainful employment and begin a life free of any charitable or governmental assistance.  Most recently, BHH partnered with Genesis Community Health to establish a Medical Clinic to provide access to medical care to the working poor in our community.
