Socal Soccer Fans Unite to Give Hunger the Boot!

August 8, 2015

On August 8th, as Barclay’s Premier League kicks off another season of world class “football”, local fans of English soccer clubs will team up with The Lion and Eagle Pub to support the work of Boca Helping Hands.  As the main gathering place for football fans (“soccer” for us Americans) on match day, The Lion and Eagle Pub will encourage patrons to bring canned food items which will be donated to Boca Helping Hands.  BHH now distributes over 6,000 bags of groceries each month to local families in need.  Boca Helping Hands will have large bins on site…so even if you can’t come in and enjoy the day’s matches, all of which are broadcast on the Lion and Eagle’s many television sets, you can drop off your canned good throughout the day. BHH Executive Director James S. Gavrilos (whose license plate is ARSNEL…that’s all you need to know) comments:  “Football fans are the most passionate fans in the world.  And we know they are passionate about attacking hunger and poverty in our local community.”  Cans of soup, any type of protein (tuna, chicken, peanut butter, beans) and boxes of cereal are always needed at Boca Helping Hands.  The Lion and Eagle Pub is located at 2401 North Federal Highway in Boca Raton.
