The 8th Annual Bowling for Bread event benefiting Boca Helping Hands was held Sunday, August 24, 2014, from 2:00pm to 5:00pm at Strikes @ Boca on Commercial Trail in Boca Raton.  Bowling for Bread, a Boca Raton Chamber Festival Days event, challenges local businesses and individuals to sponsor lanes, for underprivileged children, and/or bowl against each other to raise funds to support the programs of Boca Helping Hands. Over 200 lbs of food was collected at our event. 

 

This year our For Profit Partner for Boca Raton Chamber Festival Days was Comerica Bank.

Our Food was generously donated this year by:  Bru’s Room Sports Grille, Lucille’s Bad to the Bone BBQ, Miller’s Boca Raton Ale House; Papa John’s, Tomasso’s Pizza & Subs, Grande Pizza Co., Cannoli Kitchen- East & West, Rocco’s Tacos, and Uncle Julio’s Fine Mexican Food.  We had many people sponsor lanes and participate in our Bowling Tournament. 

 

Boca Helping Hands invited 14 non-profit organizations to bring their children for an afternoon of fun, food and prizes.  4KIDS of South Florida, Inc.,  Adopt-A-Family, American Association of Care Giving Youth, Family Promise of South Palm Beach County, Florence Fuller (East & West), HomeSafe, Jewish Family Services, Jim & Jan Moran Boys and Girls Club, PROPEL, Salvation Army, SOS Children’s Village, YMCA. 200 children came and had a great time.

 

1st place winner’s Andy Adelson’s, (DDS, PA) team with the high score held by one of their team members Richard! 

The team from Muir-Yeonas Homes took 2nd place and

Solid Rock Christian Church made a showing this year by coming in 3rd place.  Congratulations to all who participated. 

 

 

            

 

Thank you to Esperanza Catering at Boca Helping Hands who came and served plus backed hundreds of cookies for dessert!  

                                                                           

 

 

We had an amazing group of volunteers that helped before and during this event.  The volunteer chair of the event was LouAnn Such.  LouAnn arranged for of the food to be donated to this event by our wonderful food donors listed above.  Volunteers are the backbone of every non-profit and we are truly blessed with a group of dedicated volunteers.
