Boca Helping Hands – the local organization that provides food and financial aid to the needy – is seeking donations before the end of the year so an anonymous donor can match them.
Boca Helping Hands this week announced that an unnamed
contributor has pledged to match all donations up to $100,000 to
the
organization through the end of the year.
“Suddenly every contribution has double impact in a response to
help meet the growing needs of lowincome families and
individuals in the greater Boca Raton area,” said BHH President
Dave Freudenberg.
“Like all charities, Boca Helping Hands is seeing a greater
demand for its services with a reduction in municipal support,”
he said.
“We look to the community for a two for one financial impact,”
he added. “A $25 dollar contribution now feeds two families for
a month instead of just one. And all of our work is local to
Boca Raton,” he added.
“We are so thankful for this opportunity and are asking our
donors to take the challenge,” said Linda Gove, executive
director of BHH.
“Thanks to the generosity of a private matching donor, we will
able to help more people through our food and assistance
programs.”
Today, families, children and individuals are receiving pantry
bags to supplement their monthly groceries in order to pay for
the children’s necessities. And all the new children in the
low-income after-school sandwich programs who might not receive
an evening meal can take part in the sandwich program.
Each year, Boca Helping Hands serves more than 20,000 hot meals
and delivers more than 6,500 hot meals to the homebound. It also
provides financial assistance to more than 500 families and
individuals in crisis situations.
Those who wish to contribute to the Boca Helping Hands Challenge
should contact the organization at 561-417-0913 ext 100, or make
an online donation. With technology provided by Groundspring.org,
Boca Helping Hands can take donations securely online at
