An anonymous donor's pledge will
help Boca Raton Helping Hands to double the number of low income
families and individuals it can assist through the end of the
year.
Linda Gove, executive director, said the donor pledged to match
all contributions up to $100,000.
"We've had a slight cutback in some of our income sources,
including the city," said David Freudenberg, president of Boca
Raton Helping Hands pres. He said the pledge couldn't come at a
better time. "If a $50 contribution feeds one family for a
month, suddenly it feeds two families. Instead of paying the
light bill for an individual, we can pay the light bill for two
people," he said.
The cutback in the building trades has brought a lot of families
to the charity, Freudenberg said. "We're there stepping in right
and left. The demand for our services has never been greater."
