Boca Helping Hands Fashion Show raises $11,000 for needy
FROM STAFF REPORTS
Boca Helping Hands, a not-for profit, Boca Raton community based organization with the mission of solving hunger and crisis situations for the needy, raised $11,000 at its recent First Annual “Fashion in Bloom” Fashion Show and Luncheon at the Boca Raton Country Club.
The afternoon provided an opportunity for more than 100 attendees to help raise money for Boca Helping Hand’s food and assistance program fund. “I’m so happy to have been part of a team that was able to impact this wonderful charity in such an enormous way,” said Maureen Jugs.
“We are so excited to see the money we worked so hard to raise, benefit so many needy families and individuals,” added Marsha Sanfilippo, representative for SteinMart. Boca Helping Hands Executive Director Linda Gove explained that the donations will allow Boca Helping Hands to purchase the food necessary to feed the families through the summer months when food donations are slower. “We cannot thank everyone enough for the donations, sponsorships and generous support which made the event a success. This will put smiles on the faces of hundreds of families and individuals who might otherwise go without a meal,” Gove said.
Each year, Boca Helping Hands serves more than 20,000 hot meals and delivers more than 6,500 hot meals to the homebound. They also provide financial assistance to more than 500 families and individuals in crisis situations.
