Needs $1 million to construct new quarters
Boca Helping Hands once dreamed of having a new facility. Now,
that dream is getting closer to becoming a reality. The Boca-based
nonprofit has announced its has received an anonymous donation of
$750,000 toward its capital campaign. The
gift marks the near achievement of the $1 million milestone of the
finance drive.
“This generous benefactor, who wishes to remain anonymous, is a
truly wonderful individual with a caring heart,” said Dave
Freudenberg, president of Boca Helping Hands. “Through this
amazing gift, the tree has been planted that will yield long-term
harvests for Boca Helping Hands as we seek to relocate all our
services to one location.”
“We will expand the current services we now offer to the
low-income and homeless families and individuals of Boca Raton. We
are truly a blessed community to have such a wondrous person in
our midst.” “The construction of our new community center will
allow us to improve and expand the services that we offer to our
clients,” said Boca Helping Hands Executive Director Linda
Gove.“It is our goal to create a job training program that will
empower our underemployed and unemployed clients with essential
skills that will yield better paying jobs.”
The goal of Boca Helping Hands is to help people in need, through
compassionate service, gain independence by fostering dignity,
self respect and self-esteem, she said. The new facility will
consolidate all services into a single location
featuring a cafeteria, marketplace, warehouse center,
administrative offices and job assistanceprogram. It will include
the expansion of children’s services and the initiation of free
medical and dental treatment.
“This gift is more evidence of the community’s level of support
for Boca Helping Hands and the new building project,”
said Gary Peters, head of the capital campaign. “Donors and
business leaders are making it clear that they believe in our
vision for using this facility to improve the lives of the
lowincome and homeless in Boca Raton for the betterment of the
community.”
“We are so grateful for the generosity of this individual. Every
donation brings us closer to our goal,” Freudenberg said.
“With only $500,000 left to go, we are that much more anxious to
actually break ground. We have moved from being
thinkers and dreamers to being builders and doers.”
