Boca Helping Hands 1st Annual
Monopoly Fund Raiser Was a Huge Success!
BOCA RATON, FL, January 31, 2007 – BOCA HELPING
HANDS, a not-for-profit,
Boca Raton
community-based
organization with the mission of solving hunger and
crisis situations for the most needy in our own
neighborhoods, held its 1st Annual
Capital Campaign Monopoly Tournament and Dinner
at the Boca Marriott in
Boca Raton
on Sunday January 29th.
The evening provided an opportunity for over 100
attendees to help raise money for Boca Helping Hand’s
capital campaign. The local charity for the poor and
hungry in
Boca Raton
was the recipient of over
$120,000.00 in donations from the evening.
The winner of the Tournament, Eric Shaw, a Professor
of Marketing and Chairman of the Marketing Department
at
Florida
Atlantic
University
,
won the grand prize of a Franklin Mint Collector's
Edition Monopoly game.
“We want to thank Gary Peters and all of the wonderful
volunteers for organizing such a spectacular &
creative FUND & FUN raising event,” said Jack Jaiven,
BHH Board member. “Gary Peters was the U.S. National
Monopoly champion for eight years and we are so lucky
to have a ‘champion’ in our corner, said Linda Gove,
the new Executive Director of Boca Helping Hands.
Silent auction items included sports memorabilia,
Panther tickets, gift certificates and a raffle item
of a beautiful marquis diamond ring.
The local charity has embarked on a capital campaign
to raise one million four hundred thousand dollars to
build a new facility to house all of the services
offered by Boca Helping Hands. The committee is
planning a number of additional events to raise
awareness of Boca Helping Hands and the funds from
these events will be designated for our building
project. Boca Helping Hands this year received a
$50,000 pledge from the Boca Raton Rotary Club.
Funding for all Boca Helping Hands services comes from
foundations, private and corporate community support,
grants and now special events. For more information
